This year, we honored Janet and Thomas Sullivan with ‘The Frank and Kitty Shankwitz Award.’ This award goes to those who represent the same compassion, dedication and support of the Foundation’s mission as Frank and Kitty, who were two of the founders of Make-A-Wish®, more than three decades ago.
- Janet and Thomas Sullivan — are a prominent business and civic-minded couple from Orange County who have been longtime supporters of Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley. Thomas Sullivan, president and owner of Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe and Highland Mills and William F. Hogan Funeral Home in Highland Falls, is president of the Orange County Chamber Board of Directors, which honored him with the Commitment to Community Award, among numerous accolades he has earned in a career spanning 40 years. Janet Sullivan has worked with her husband in the business as office manager and has been an active charitable volunteer. Among her contributions to the community have been serving on the board of the Hospice Auxiliary, where she is a member, being past co-chair of the Hospice or Orange and Sullivan Counties Gala committee and past member of the board of Southwinds Retirement Home in Middletown.
