The whales seemed to flock around the boat on our whale watch, and got so close at one point that you could look down through the water and see them swim right under the boat. The kids thought the submarine (which included a trip by a sunken ship) was a highlight and really enjoyed seeing the fish and a shark on the reef.
When we weren’t touring around the island, we spent countless hours at the beach, in the pool and on the water slides. Most importantly, we spent an amazing week together as a family.
It was a special day for 5 year old wish child Emerson when it was announced to her that she will be traveling to Maui, Hawaii for 8 days on her wish. Even after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, she dreamed of traveling somewhere exotic. After seeing different types of sharks, fish and dolphins on television her heart was set on going to Hawaii and seeing them in person. Hawaii encompassed everything Emerson wanted her wish to be.
In preparation for her wish experience, Emerson's wish granters kept the wish alive by giving Emerson six postcards from Hawaii to give her an idea of the different aspects of the island. Before sending Emerson on her wish, her wish granters gave her treasure box and assorted books to get prepped for her Hawaii wish - now she was ready for an adventure of a lifetime!
Emerson started her wish experience by whale watching at the Pacific Whale Foundation then her family set sail on the Ocean Odyssey for a glorious cruise around the island. The adventures did not stop there for her and her family though because the following day a tour of Maui awaited Emerson. There were lots to see on their journey including scenic views of wet regions and volcanic areas.
The family then switched gears from exploring the island on foot to visiting the depths of the island in a submarine! During the underwater ride they got to encounter a variety of different species of fish and algae. Emerson even got to meet the captain!
The wish experience was everything that Emerson had hoped for and more.
