Lucas is a 5 year old boy from Westchester County, diagnosed with a brain tumor.
During the first Wish visit, Lucas’ Wish Granters found out about some of his interests including the color grey, dogs, Minecraft and the movie Kung Fu Panda. When it comes to food, Lucas cannot get enough of sushi, dumplings and noodles. It is no surprise then to find out that his one true wish was to take a plane to Japan. When asked why Japan, he did not have to think at all. He quickly replied with wanting to ride the bullet train, eat sushi and dumplings, and go to the zoo the see the penguins like his older brother did when he visited.
In January, Lucas and his family were picked up in the wee hours of the night by limousine and whisked to the airport for the long trip to Tokyo. Despite the long flight, Lucas was excited to hit the ground running and see all that Tokyo had to offer. The family enjoyed a private sightseeing tour where they visited shrines, the Samurai Museum and the Asakusa Kannon Temple which is the oldest in Tokyo. Of course, a trip to Tokyo would not be complete without a visit to Mount Fuji where their tour included riding a cable car and a cruise on Lake Ashi. Day four of their visit found Lucas and his family riding the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto! In Kyoto, known as the “City of Ten Thousand Shrines,” he toured the historic temples and shrines that it is known for as well as the Kyoto Railway Museum, which Lucas especially loved.
His mom shared her and her husband’s gratitude in a note the Wish House received shortly after their return, see below:
