What COVID-19 Means for Wishes and Local Events

Date

TARRYTOWN, NY (March 16, 2020) – In these challenging times, we are all navigating through uncertainty for ourselves, our loved ones and our community. We hope you are staying healthy and safe.

At this time, we have made the difficult decision to postpone all wish travel until further notice. As 77% of wishes involve travel, 22 wishes through Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley were immediately impacted with additional wishes being impacted every day.

In addition, we have postponed the 2020 Wish Ball to Friday, November 13. We will continue to share details and updates surrounding the Wish Ball as more information becomes available.

The health and safety of all Make-A-Wish constituents, including our wish kids and families, community supporters, volunteers and employees safety, is our priority.

We will continue to monitor guidance from national and international public health and government organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) and U.S. State Department, and are working closely with the national Make-A-Wish Medical Advisory Council, keeping the best interest of the children and families we serve at the center of all policy decisions we make.

Your commitment to wish children and families is critical – particularly now. Because of COVID-19 postponements, there will be more wish kids waiting for wishes than ever before.

Your help today will bring hope and joy to wish kids in your community. To find out how you can get involved or to make a donation, please visit hudson.wish.org.

While the Wish House is closed through this Friday, our staff remains committed to our mission and are available via email/phone.

We appreciate your ongoing support, which remains critical as there are more wish kids waiting for wishes than ever before.

We will continue to keep you informed as we learn more about the impact to wish kids and their families – and how you can shine a light of hope for them during their wish journey.

On behalf of the children and families we serve, thank you for your support. Together, we can give the brightest of days to children in need.

Sincerely,
