In October of 2007, my wish to have a laptop computer was granted. It was one of the most awesome days of my life. It was so emotional that for the first time in a long time I cried happy tears. I couldn't believe what I was seeing or that people (my wish granters) took the time to acknowledge what I had been through. I felt like I was a princess and it was all about me; I will never forget how happy I was on my wish day.

My wish really helped me see that there are good people out there that look out for kids, like me, who are going through such a difficult time. The overall  experience really helped me be less bitter to people who couldn't understand what I was going through at the time.

Since my wish I have graduated from high school and graduated from Mercy College with a degree in Psychology. I currently attend NYU pursuing a Masters Degree in Social Work and work as a Teacher Assistant at a local children's center.

I joined the Alumni Committee to give back and hopefully by sharing my experience, it'll help one of the many kids who are waiting to have their wish granted. I also volunteer with the chapter an events volunteer, wish granter and speaker. I love sharing my testimony of such an important part of my life.

  • Johanna, Donovan, and Tangari at the 2011 Walk for Wishes

  • Tangi giving her testimony at our 2010 Volunteer Luncheon

  • Tangari at our 2013 Wish Ball with her cousin and wish kid, Dream.

  • Tangari with fellow alumni Abraham, Jordyn, Lauren, and Angela at the 2012 Wish Ball
