For 17-year-old Bo nothing could stop his dream to help others. In order to accomplish that goal, he wished to have a gym membership so could get in shape physically to be ready for his first year of college. He was determined, focused, and ready for the challenge ahead!
Bo's journey started in 2006 when he was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, which is a form of brain cancer. He underwent surgery to remove the tumors, followed by radiation and chemotherapy. Soon after, he was declared in remission and ready for his one true heartfelt wish - to have a gym membership!
Bo shared with his wish granters Joe and Rob, how he wanted to get ready physically for his first year at Pace University. Bo's wish included personal training sessions to increase his fitness level and rebuild his muscle mass following his surgery. Thanks to Pace University Athletics Department, he worked closely with Mike Bohlander, Pace's Strength and Conditioning Coordinator to regain his strength again. Bo knew it would take hardwork and determination to reach his goal but he was ready for the challenge.
His wish was granted in the Summer of 2013 and he continues to train with Bohlander to this day. Bo is a Sophmore at Pace and his dream is to become a elementary education teacher. Bo also continues to be involved with the Make-A-Wish® Hudson Valley as an Alumni Committee member and volunteers his time at various events throughout the year including our Annual Walk for Wishes and Wish Ball.
